About The Roundtables

The MiCA Roundtable Expert Series is an initiative of Mariana de la Roche Wills and Dr. Nina-Luisa Siedler aimed at increasing legal certainty within the rapidly evolving EU crypto markets. As the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) introduces a comprehensive regulatory framework for digital assets, it raises numerous questions regarding its application and interpretation. To address these challenges, the MiCA Roundtable Series facilitates expert discussions across Europe throughout 2024, resulting in public reports and specific calls to action. These roundtables bring together key industry stakeholders, regulators, and legal experts to collaboratively explore the nuances of MiCA, ensuring a more informed and harmonized implementation across the EU.

The Round Tables

London

On March 25th, 2024, the inaugural MiCAR Roundtable of the series was held in London at the Austrian Trade Commission. Organized in partnership with thinkBLOCKtank, Validvent, ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA UK, the Austrian Professional Association for Financial Service Providers, and the Vienna Business Agency, and in collaboration with APCO, INATBA, and EUBOF, the event brought together a diverse group of experts to discuss key challenges in the application of MiCAR.

Berlin

The second roundtable in the series was held on April 23rd 2024 in Berlin, in parthnership with Siedler Legal, thinkBLOCKtank, and Validvent in collaboration with Berlin Partner, the EUBOF, and INATBA.

Vienna

Following the March roundtable in London and the April roundtable in Berlin, the third MiCAR Roundtable of the series was held in Vienna on May 20th 2024. This event was organised in partnership of Siedler Legal, thinkBlocktank and Validvent in cooperation with the European Commission and sponsored by Crystal Intelligence, AML Incubator, and Bitpanda.

Brussels

Following the roundtables in London, Berlin, and Vienna, the fourth MiCAR Roundtable was held on the 10th of July in Brussels in collaboration with APCO and Crystal Intelligence, with the support of the Web3 Foundation.

Berlin 2.0

Following the roundtables in London, Berlin, Vienna, and Brussels, the fifth MiCAR Roundtable was held on the 20th of August in Berlin in partnership with Siedler Legal, thinkBLOCKtank, and Validvent, in collaboration with Berlin Partner, the Web3 Foundation, and Blockchain Bundesverband. This roundtable was also supported by the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy, and Public Enterprises.

Zug

Following the roundtables in London, Berlin, Vienna, and Brussels, the sixth MiCAR Roundtable took place on the 2nd of October 2024 in Zug, Switzerland, at CV Labs. The event was supported by Crystal Intelligence, Token Recovery, and CV Labs, with collaboration from thinkBLOCKtank.

Vaduz

The seventh MiCAR Roundtable took place on the 4th of October 2024 at the University of Liechtenstein. Supported by Bitpanda, Nägele Rechtsanwälte, and the Stabsstelle Finanzplatzinnovation & Digitalisierung, the roundtable was organized in collaboration with Token Summit Liechtenstein, thinkBLOCKtank, and INATBA.

Madrid

The eighth MiCAR Roundtable took place on October 2024 at the historic Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid. Organized with the support of the European Commission, Crystal Intelligence, Merge Madrid, and Taxbit, this roundtable continued the series' mission of fostering legal clarity around MiCAR’s regulatory framework for crypto-assets.
